Yoga for Neck, Shoulder & Stress Relief

Heading into exam time, today’s class was focused on relaxing the shoulders and neck.

high plank to down dog transition
3 spine lengtheners (flat blacks)
shoulder opener
3 Sun As
3 Sun Bs
crescent lunge
bound airplane
crescent lunge twist
warrior II
side angle
half bind
prasritta B/horse
gratitude with shoulder opener
vinyasa to high push up and hold
repeat from crescent lunge through vasti
dolphin plank
2 locust
1 bow
1 bridge
1 7-count bridge or wheel
supta baddha konasana
extended gentle spinal twist
modified half pigeon on back

We did a lot of forward folds, which are great stress relievers.  Focused attention on relaxing and opening chest, shoulders and neck especially in poses like eagle and half bind.

What do you think is the best (most helpful) pose for opening and relaxing the neck and shoulders?  What pose makes you feel most relaxed?

    • Hi Mark! Thank you for the suggestion. I’d love to do videos but I lack the equipment. It would be great to be able to tape my classes, but then there’s also the issue of waivers and such for all my students. Ah well. Your video links look great though. Thanks for the heads up! Namaste
