So after a rough season last year, I couldn’t wait to get my first new installment of the 2010 farm share from Parker Farm. Farmer Steve was able to start a week earlier than expected due to a (so far) excellent growing season.
The first delivery included: red leaf lettuce, bibb lettuce, red kale, pea tendrils, bok choi, mizuna, chicory, and spinach.
Since I’ll be travelling this weekend, I blanched the spinach and froze it for later. The kale was donated to a kale-loving roommate, the mizuna and lettuces were washed, chopped, wrapped and stored for salads, and the chicory is sitting in the crisper with fingers crossed that it won’t go bad. The bok choi and pea tendrils I sauteed up and had with a side salad and leftovers from last night’s Indian takeout.
I love the buttery-sharp taste of fresh bok choi! Rumor has it that next week we get some early turnips and beets!
